The Hunt for Foundation in a Pandemic!

A few weeks ago I did something absolutely crazy. I did an online color match for foundation. Yes, that’s right online… not in person. Another downfall due to Covid-19, as we can’t try them out in person anymore. I was desperate for a new foundation, so I had to take the leap of faith.

Sephora has this function online where you choose the new foundation you want to buy and color match what you already have to the new brand. That sounds like a bunch of gibberish so let me break it down more. I wanted to get the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation, so I clicked a color match for this foundation. I then searched for the foundation I already have, which is the Cover FX Power Play foundation in G40. It then matched G40 to shade 250 for Fenty. IT WAS SO EASY! Another plus to this, if you want to get the Fenty concealer it’s going to be the same shade (in my case 250) as the foundation…Wow Rihanna just keeps winning.

After buying my products from my local Sephora of course I had to try them out. What type of person would I be if I didn’t. When I first put it on I had thought it was pretty accurate, but was maybe just looking a little 0.0001 darker than my other foundation. I tried again when I went full out makeup and realized it looked wayyyyy darker because I put on too much, so I gave it one more chance. I put on a very light layer and it then looked accurate to my skintone.

Moral of this story is I don’t know if I need to go a shade lighter or not because I don’t think anyone has the guts to tell me if it looks bad. Though It is so close to my skin tone. My mind is in shambles trying to figure out if I should exchange it. Also I’m pretty sure I have maybe 24 hours to do so, Yikes!

… mom if you’re reading this don’t worry I did not wait last minute to return this. I am happy with the shade, don’t get mad! Hehe!

What I can definitely confirm is that Fenty foundation and concealer are products of great quality. It doesn’t feel like I have makeup on, it is easy to apply, and it is definitely a long wear soft matte as it claims. I highly recommend Fenty Beauty products for any makeup items you are searching to purchase. I also use their lipsticks, and the setting powder in the shade of butter. It smells like heaven, and it doesn’t feel cakey at all. I almost forgot to mention it has cute packaging!!

My Top 5 Things To Do While In Quarantine!

Right now the world is in shambles. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak we are all social distancing at home. Constantly staying at home all day can get very repetitive and boring. Good thing I’m here to give you ideas of fun things you can do from home!

  1. D.I.Y. T-Shirt

I was scrolling through Tik Tok and came across this video where you can take a plain shirt and add on any photo of your choosing! The steps are pretty easy. First, you need to gather all your supplies which include a plain shirt (you can find one in your closet or order online), plastic wrap, parchment paper, an iron, and of course a printed photo of your choosing. You cover your photo in the plastic wrap then place it where you want on your shirt. Next you place the parchment paper over the plastic and start to iron. Make sure the parchment paper covers the plastic completely or else say goodbye to your iron! The amount of time it takes to iron varies. Take off the parchment and voila!

  1. Binge Watching

Sitting at home for hours is the perfect time to start watching that show that’s been on the back of your mind for ages. Toward the beginning of quarantine my mom and I watched Gilmore Girls everyday until we finished all 7 seasons. There is nothing better than sitting back on the sofa eating snacks and watching your favorite shows. One show that has been trending everywhere is Tiger King on Netflix. Everyone and I mean everyone is watching this show. Maybe it will be the one you watch next!

  1. Making a Tik Tok

If you haven’t heard of Tik Tok, I’m pretty sure you’ve been living under a rock. Tik Tok is quite possibly one of the most popular apps right now. There’s millions upon millions of videos ranging from art to dancing to workouts. As you’re sitting at home why not learn a Tik Tok dance? The most famous dance is the renegade. Some people find it hard, but with all the time on your hands you can practice 😉 If dancing is not your forté then grab the person you’re quarenting with and do a challenge or lip sync video.

  1. Trying a New Makeup Look

Now, lately the makeup game has been changing. People are coming up with these incredible artistic looks that are becoming the norm. If you got the tool you should try to come up with new looks for yourself, or try to recreate someone else’s. A popular makeup trend that has been going around these past few days is recreating Alexa Demie’s ‘90s glam look. She plays Maddy Perez on the hit show Euphoria. In the show her character has dramatic yet classic makeup looks, and there are so many different ways people have taken her style and changed it to something they would want to rock! This quarantine is the perfect time to try out the eccentric makeup look you have been dying to wear.

  1.  Video Chat Your Friends

Social distancing is only physical. Just because you can’t see your friends in person doesn’t mean you shouldn’t interact with them at all. When everyone is free you should schedule a Facetime or download Zoom or Houseparty to video chat. Maybe even schedule a virtual dinner with some people. It is very important for your mental health to be social and not secluded at home. My friends and I will message each other during the day, but when the night hits we all hop on Zoom and talk the night away. What I find so fun about Zoom is being able to choose your own background, so i’m always choosing crazy backgrounds to make my friends laugh!

We have so much time on our hands now that we are all stuck at home. As unfortunate as this Coronavirus is, we have a lot of time on our hands to do the things we have been yearning to do, but haven’t had the time too. Take this as a time to focus on yourself. Make sure to stay safe while you are having fun! Oh…Wash your hands ;p
